Wow, I just have nothing to say here. Uh, the piece of fried chicken I got from the hot bar at the co-opseemed undercooked. My friend Kandy donated a piece of art to auction off at the big show tomorrow, even though she doesn't know the people affected and can't make the show. We are working on a plan of having Thanksgiving here, though I refuse to try a turkey (I am just not ready). My lady parts appointment is tomorrow morning at 8:15, which is too early. I have no idea what to get my dad for his birthday, as usual. It's my mom's birthday tomorrow but I already have something cool for her. CJ is away tonight and during our phone call the signal kept dropping out -- note, there is nothing more annoying than saying "I can't hear you, you're breaking up," except for saying it. Bill O'Reilly is on the Daily and it's time to hit the hay.

I've been off the meat again now for a while (I've been off and on since I was 17). When Scott's parents came to visit us from Italy in January after being away for half a year and having missed the holidays, I asked them if there was any holiday foods they missed that I could make for them during their visit. I was thinking cookies. Scott's mom said, "Turkey." Turns out they don't eat turkey in Italy and opt for small fowl like pigeons. Who knew?

I had never previously made a turkey and I'll tell you that I will never do it again. There was a point when I had to put my hand in the "cavity" and, basically, I came completely undone. The only problem is that Scott's mother was right there "helping me." I had to turn my head away so she wouldn't notice my dry heaving. "Please don't let his mother notice I'm gagging over turkey," I prayed to no one in particular. She didn't notice. And the turkey came out alright, as far as I could tell from watching other people eat it, but it changed me.

Hey, making a turkey is not at all as scary as it seems. Spend an hour researching recipes, you cook by how many lbs it is and you use a meat thermometer and a knife to find out when it's done. It's really obvious when it's done, and it takes so long there is no way to overcook it. Then it's REALLY tasty. OMG I can't wait for Thanksgiving. Have your guests bring/make all the side dishes and make some cranberry sauce (easiest recipe ever - sugar and water, boil, done.
